This is the congregation where I served as preacher from 1992- 2019, the year I retired due to health issues. That's more than a quarter century at one place. When some preachers serve a church that long it grows increasingly to rather large numbers. That's not our story at North Lindbergh. We started strong and through the years had hundreds of people pass through. Illness, age, moves, rejection all played a part in reducing our numbers during the last years. Where others might have a sense of regret over that, I do not. Of course, occasionally the thought of things having gone a different direction bothers me. But more often I have a sense of fulfillment remembering the numbers of people who took a stand for right at that place; the numbers of people who came back to their faith at that place; the numbers who went to Heaven from that place and the learning that happened at that place. I will be posting sermons from those years and summaries of things learned in the coming months.
